Bloodhunt

As the son of Josiah Pratt you set sail on your first international pilgrimage at the age of 18 (1822), shortly after arriving in Luxor you realize there is more at play.  A sandstorm encapsulates the city, blocking the sun and tainting it in an orange hue. May they be the cause or result, vampires have taken hold of the city. 
After losing all your brethren and losing your fight to Imhotep, an old higher vampire , he bites you and leaves you to yourself as you transform into a lowly Strix. However god spares you the fate of a monster, keeping you in a limbo between succumbing and resisting the vampire curse. While you are still undead you remain in full control of your desires and thoughts, not needing to drink human blood to survive. As parts of your body start to transform you chain a crucifix to your right arm, channelling God’s mercy and your faith through it to stop the process. Wrapping a cape around your already transformed right arm. Returning home you are scolded and banished from entering holy ground (church), only thanks to the influence of your father, is your head still attached your neck. After spending years in dark cellars and with your father no longer in office you and a handful of missionary's are send back to Luxor in 1825, as even the risk of your death would be a welcome gift to your brethren.
 Arriving they unveil their plan to let you go in as cannon fodder and asses the situation, while they wait for you report.
